How to choose your candle 

The candle is a noble product which crossed the history. Candles existed already 3000 years before Christ in Grêce and in Egypt (a candlestick was discovered in the grave of the Pharaoh Tutankhamun). By way of candle, Romain rolled sheets of papyrus in some beeswax. In China, candles were made with some wax of vegetable origin poured inside tube of paper. Formerly, the candle answered in requires it to light houses. In the Middle Ages, candles were increased to measure the time which passed by. Today, they are essentially ornamental and used during evenings enter friend, of a romantic dinner, a celebrations of family, birthdays, of a moment of relaxation. It is an ideal present to be offered or to offer itself.


1) The different perfumes

The scents of candles perfumed are classified in 5 categories (Fresh, bewitching, floral, greedy, fruity). Every people will be more or less sensitive to these groups of flavors. Here are some examples of elements associated to every family of scents traditionally used in the conception of perfumed candles:

  • fresh notes : eucalpytus, citronella, mint, bamboo, verbena, ...
  • bewitching notes : cedar, leather, amber, fir tree, ...
  • floral notes : poppy, pink, orange tree, lotus, lavender, violet, cotton flower, perfumed oil, jamsin, ...
  • greedy notes : biscuit, caramel, orange, canelle, vanilla, chocolate, ...,
  • fruity notes : flower of fig tree, coconut, almond, citrus fruits, mango, papaya, rhubarb, ...

 

2) The choice of the wick

The choice of the wick depends on the nature of the candle (candle poured into a glass, molded, sculptured). The cotton wick (generaly with a paper soul) are recommended for the vegetable candles (realized with some natural wax) perfumed. As soon as the wick burns, the wax warms and allows the diffusion of the fragrance. There are also wooden wick (often wooden of cedar). Also adapted to the perfumed candles, once lit the wooden wick is going to crackle like a wood fire so awakening an additional sense.


3) The choice of the wax

For your scented candles, we recommend candles made with vegetable wax (soya, colza, rice) instead of candles made with paraffin wax (whichis obtained by refining of by-products of the oil (petrol).
